Counseling Services
Outpatient Counseling
You may have heard of many different names in the past for mental health providers. Examples such as: clinical social worker, psychologist, counselor, and therapist. These professionals can provide counseling services, however the approach can be different.
Though there are many different types of providers to chose from, at Precise all counseling services are provided by a psychologist. Counseling provided locally in office and throughout North Carolina using Tele-health.
What Is Outpatient Counseling? What Is Done At Precise?
Outpatient is a term used by providers that help show both the level of need as well as location for mental health services.
Outpatient therapy can come in many forms and is the least intense mental health service. Types could be:
- Individual: just you and the psychologist.
- Family Therapy: counseling with you and one or more family members.
- Couples Therapy: Counseling done with partners with intent to improve relationships
- Group Therapy: You, and many others in need of treatment, meet in a group setting for therapy.
Precise focuses on Individual Counseling, and thus all services will focused around the individual seeking care. We may utilize family or couples therapy as part of treatment, however these formats are not the primary focus for treatment.
Group therapy is not offered, however this could be recommended as a supplement to individual therapy.
Areas Of Specialty Or Interest
Whatever you are going through, counseling can help.
Psychologists provide counseling for many different types of mental health needs, although it is most useful to work with someone that specializes in your specific needs.
Precise has the following specialty area’s of interest:

- Co-occurring disorders (sometimes referred to Dual diagnosis) of addiction and mental health

Our Approach
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the main type of therapy approach used here at Precise. CBT is used in combination with Motivational Interviewing (MI) to allow you to work on healing. Both CBT and MI are evidence based practices.
Additional approaches can sometimes be used during the therapy process and can supplement the process of healing. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) are evidence based practices that maybe used as alternatives to CBT. Depending on diagnosis and needs, ACT or DBT skills maybe use along side or in place of CBT.
Precise will also rely on psychological questionnaires, exercises, tests and scales throughout counseling.
